What a lovely surprise to see this after so many years !!!
This is the house where I was born.
My father Mr Dhanji Visram Thakrar and his neighbour Mr Madhavji Visram Majithia had planned to build this house in 1936. As both had their respective father’s name VISRAM they named the building as VISRAM BUILDING.
Half (left part on the sketch) of Visram Building was owned by my father Dhanji VISRAM Thakrar and the other half (right part of the sketch) was owned by Madhavji VISRAM Majithia. Many people ‘till this day still thinks that Dhanji Visram and Madhavji Visram were brothers. In those days many Indian families only used their and their father’s names and very rarely used Surname (family names).
Each had owned two shops on ground floors, two flats on first and two flats on second floor. Then one flat was added later on third floor at the back (not shown in the sketch as the back part is not visible.
On the ground floor (my father whose business name was Dhanji Visram & Sons) had used the left part of the two shops and the second from left shop was leased to M/s Hemraj Bharmal.
Both the (left side) first floor flats were leased out to two separate tenants.
We all were using both the (left side) second floor flats which were converted to one flat.
We also were using (left side) of the third floor flat.
